Major Highways
Since incorporating in 1999, Sooke District is responsible for maintaining the paved roadways within its boundaries, whereas all major highways fall under the Ministry of Transportation and Highways. Sooke is located on Highway 14 which is called "Sooke Road" until it passes the only streetlight in town at the intersection of Otter Point and Sooke Road. It then changes into "West Coast Road" which goes to Port Renfrew. See maps
Bus Service: BC Transit busses service Sooke with connections to the Western Communities and Victoria
Air Services - Scheduled air service is available at the airport in Sydney, about an hour away. Also airplane from Victoria Harbour to Vancouver and other cities.
Taxi Services - Make sure to phone ahead, some waiting may be required

Radio Radio reception from America, Vancouver Island and mainland BC
Television- There are currently two TV stations in Victoria, and the local Shaw Cable broadcasts.
Cable: Shaw Cable services most of the region from East Sooke and the Sooke District. Some outlying areas may not have cable access.
Telephone Services
TELUS provides residential and business services via the area exchange 250. Currently all of the Sooke area is 641 with the Shirly area being 646. Local calls include Victoria, but the Sydney airport is long distance.
Internet Services
Internet service is available in Sooke through many of the internet service providers (ISP). Shaw Cable offers fast connections in areas serviced by cable, as well as the Telus high speed connections.
