Sooke Potholes on the Sooke River:
A favorite recreational opportunity on Vancouver Island

Just past the the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park is the unfinished Deertrail Resort.

It is perched upon a rock overlooking the Sooke River, a skeleton of a frame rotting away in the westcoast weather.

This photo, taken in 2002 was part of the Deer Trails project. The proposed convention center and film studio never was built.

As of 2005, The Land Conservancy (TLC) has taken possesion of the property and is in the process of making some changes.

You can hike up the trail, and on the adjacent "Galloping Goose Trail" you will get a good workout!
