Residents of Sooke anxious to catch the Olympic Spirit will have the opportunity
to see the Olympic Flame in person on October 31, 2009 as it passes through on
its way towards the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

It will take place on May 23, 2009 at the Sooke Royal Canadian Legion starting at 6:00pm. Tickets are $20 each plus the donation of a new or gently used item for the auction. Stone and finishing materials are included in the cost. Most tools are provided but if you have any old rasps and files, and a small knife (pocket, exacto etc.) bring them. Wear old clothing; coveralls or a shop apron are useful. You will get dusty. Bring a lunch or Malahat Farm can provide one for $10. Sponsored by the Sooke Philharmonic Society.This year the tour features not just some spectacular ornamental gardens but also some very productive smaller back-yard vegetable gardens a couple of small farms,a silent auction,a classic car display, and music by members of the Sooke Orchestra.

Cob Oven Building at Malahat Farm
The Cob Oven Weekend Workshop is a hands and feet-on process for up to 10 participants who will mix the materials and build a traditional cob oven. Cob is a very old method of building using sustainable local materials such as earth, stone, clay and straw. Featuring artist Sue Coleman, and author Lou Allin.
Acrylic, oil and mixed media artists, authors reading from their latest novels, poets performing live on stage, as well as photographers giving tips on using Photo Shop and getting the best from your digital camera. Artists will be in attendance to outline new "mixed media" techniques as well as selling All Art related items!

Since 1991 the Women's Longboating Committee has met at the Sooke
Marine Industries at 2019 Kaltasin Road, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m. every Monday morning. Students and local people take the
